Our Story

Who We Are Today

Davidson Homes is one of the fastest-growing homebuilders in the country. What started as a one-man operation in Huntsville, Alabama in 2009 is now a company building homes across six states — Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Arizona — with 105 active communities and nearly 10,000 homeowners who call a Davidson home their own.

In 2026, we ranked #43 on the Builder 100, up from #46 in 2025 and #60 in 2024. Three years, three consecutive jumps. That kind of momentum doesn’t happen by accident — it’s the result of building the right team, choosing the right markets, and staying focused on what matters: the people buying our homes.

How We Started

In 2009, Adam Davidson was 24 years old. He had a business degree from UNC Charlotte, two years of experience as a superintendent for a public homebuilder in Gulfport, Mississippi, and a firm belief that he was ready to build something of his own.

He relocated to Huntsville and started Davidson Homes from scratch. The timing was rough — 2009 was the tail end of the housing market collapse, one of the worst periods for homebuilding in decades. Adam started anyway and spent the first three years not just running the company but physically helping build the homes himself.

His first sale came that year. By 2011, Davidson Homes developed its first community in Priceville, Alabama. By the end of 2012, the company had closed 39 homes — enough to bring on its first superintendent and first sales agent. That was the beginning of a team that would eventually become one of the more recognized names in homebuilding across the South and Southwest.

How We’ve Grown

As Davidson Homes gained traction in North Alabama, the focus turned to growth. Each new market was chosen deliberately, and the expansion has continued ever since:

Where We’re Going

Going from #60 to #46 to #43 on the Builder 100 in three consecutive years says something. But it’s worth being clear about what it says: not that we’ve arrived somewhere, but that we’re pointed in the right direction and picking up speed.

Davidson Homes will keep expanding into markets where people want to live. Places with job growth, opportunity, and communities worth being part of. The strategy that’s worked since 2009 hasn’t changed: find the right land, build the right homes, put the right people in place, and take care of the customer.

That’s what got us here. And it’s what’s going to keep us climbing.
